About Us

Judith Blake

On behalf of the community I am pleased to present the Middleton Regeneration Strategy, which has been developed following a series of consultations by the Middleton Regeneration Board.

The Middleton Regeneration Board was formed to respond to local people who were disappointed with the existing dialogue and to address their concerns. This strategy demonstrates the commitment of the 3 ward councillors, Leeds City Council, agencies, organisations, businesses and community groups who are working together to make Middleton a safe, healthy, prosperous and dynamic community, where people are proud to live.

We aim to achieve this by improving health and well-being, providing good quality affordable housing, green spaces, better job opportunities, improving educational attainment and local facilities. For too long Middleton has not fully shared in the prosperity of Leeds and the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Difficulties with community safety, the environment, education, jobs and housing have all held Middleton back. Now we can change that, and create an exciting future for the community.

This strategy is intended for everyone in Middleton and gives every person the opportunity to have a say in improving their local area. It is just the start. There is a lot more to be done. We look forward to working with and learning from everyone who will be helping us realise the vision.
